Set Design for Measure for Measure

This set was designed to bring Shakespeare's classic performance into the 20th century. The performance was set in the 1920s in Vienna, Austria so naturally, it was influenced by Art Deco styles, Beaux-Arts architecture, and the Vienna Succession movement. It was also heavily influenced by the role of women both in Shakespeare's original writing and in Europe in the 1920s and the suffragette movement.

In order to create this set, I researched the time and these movements, created a series of mood boards, designed a Cornell box, and eventually sculpted the set on SketchUp.

Set Design for Secret Tree Fort
A Children's book written by Brianne Farley

This set was designed to bring the story and the world of the book to life on a proscenium stage. The challenge was to create a set that could work both for a realistic setting and then convert to the world of imagination.

The project was completed using Photoshop. All of the images used for the set were taken from other sources, so I do not own any of that artwork. Some of it was pulled directly from the author's illustrations. The combination of those images, as well as the set layout and overall conceptualization, is my own.

Set Design for God of Carnage

This set was purposefully left monochromatic and was deliberately designed to be uncomfortable to highlight the drama and the actor's performances with the play. The set was sculpted on Sketchup and then pulled into Lumion to finish.

Mask Design for a Theatrical Performance of Tim Burton's Big FIsh

I designed and built a custom, kinetic catfish mask for a stage adaptation of Tim Burton's film, Big Fish. Although the process began with research into wearable art, kinetic sculpture, and puppet design, the process and final solution were my own. Please view the project book for more information on the design and the video below for process documentation.

Costume Design for Oscar Wilde's

I was tasked with creating custom costume designs for Lady Bracknell, Algernon, and Cecily for Oscar Wilde's The Importance of Being Earnest. Please see the project book below for more details on the final designs and process work.

Set Design for Bohemian Dances
Dance performance set to Bohemian Dances by The Do

The finalized set design for this performance included a white scrim downstage at the beginning of the performance, which was lifted out as the dance progressed to create the appearance of dawn. The layered backdrop also slowly moved during the performance to widen the torn aperture and suggest the movement of a sunrise.
